Denis Snelgar appointed as Non-Executive Chair
Denis has been known to our Founding Directors of the company for the last 16 years and currently has been working with the design and construction team on the building of the Hundertwasser Arts Centre. The Directors sought out Denis’s expertise to head up the project partnering charter for the internationally significant Hundertwasser Art Centre with Wairau Maori Art Gallery in Whangarei. His input in this project to date has been invaluable and we are pleased to be able to engage Denis to provide further services to our company which is experiencing significant growth and success.
Denis Snelgar has over 20 years of management experience including 10 years as CEO of two large, complex organisations; Waitemata DHB and Northland Polytechnic. In the last fifteen years his focus has moved to be a leadership and vision consultant for a broad range of individuals, teams and organisations. He has a broad range of analytical, strategic, interpersonal and leadership skills essential to empowering individuals, teams and organisations to make a constructive impact.
Denis worked for leading New York global management consulting company JMW Consulting, providing leadership services to Fortune 500 companies around the globe to achieve extraordinary performance. Upon his return to New Zealand, Denis worked as a consultant bringing contemporary leadership practices to a wide range of organisations; from publicly listed to Not-For-Profits, including Laerdal, APG & Co, Smith & Nephew, BNZ, Golden Bay Cement, United Group, NZIOB, NZ Property Council, Bendon, Ag Research, Servilles, Kathmandu, Eagle Technology, Te Runanga o Ngati Whatua and Te Runanga o Te Rarawa.
Denis has wide governance experience and currently chairs boards in Project Management and the Maori Health Service provision. Recently he chaired Beetham Lifestyle Village (aged care) and Advisory Works (a business advisory company). He is also is an investor in technology companies and a mentor/judge of start-ups and entrepreneurial ventures at the University of Auckland. Denis has a degree in economics and philosophy as well as a post-graduate business and teaching qualifications.
