Scholarship for Tsigemariam Jambo
Tsigemariam was brought to our notice from a ‘self appointed ambassador of international needs’ friend who actively supports and promotes worthy causes.
Her story touched our hearts and we decided to help her cause by sponsoring her first year at medical school.
Tigist (full name Tsigemariam) is a girl from the AFC Children’s home in Ethiopia.
The attached photo is of her in the medical room at the children’s home, where she helps the nurse in the morning and evening.
Tigist’s story is a sad one. Her parents died from HIV and Tigist found herself fending for herself on the streets of Addis, until the Artist for Charity (AFC) saw her and wanted to help.
She was extremely weak and very sick from type 2 HIV which she had contracted in the womb from her mother.
AFC brought her to the children’s home fed, clothed & nurtured her and gave her the much needed ARV medicines to control HIV.
After a few months of pushing all the wrong buttons, refusing to go to school and rebelling against all, she settled down and started to like school.
At school she excelled. Tigist is now 17 years and has just been accepted into Gondar Medical University to become doctor.
She is committed to being a doctor, so that she can help others and we want to help her. She’s very deserving.
She is a lovely, kind girl who has inspired many with her dedication to educate herself so that she can help others.
