Onerahi Football Clubrooms

Griffiths & Associates were commissioned to research and make application for funding to various funding organisations and Trusts to build a clubrooms and ablutions block for this club which was established in 1952 and had operated with just a double garage. They have a database of 260 members.


The funding applications were successful and Griffiths assisted the Club with project management of the clubrooms and facilitated all the financial transactions. 

Dargaville Sportsville

Griffiths were commissioned to carry out a feasibility study which led to a successful funding application. The project is 65% funded now with further applications due 2016 for a start later in the year.

Morris & Morris Cremator Replacement

The Project Brief was to replace a 37 year old cremator with a new machine.  We were restricted by minimal down time with a fixed completion date that had to be met.


The client (Morris & Morris Ltd/Maunu Crematorium Ltd – Gary Taylor) approached Griffiths to assist with the project based on exposure on another project in close proximity.


We undertook to assist Morris & Morris to work with Whangarei District Council on the lease, the budget and fiscal aspects of that arrangement. Our role was to plan, price, procure and deliver the removal, burial and then the install of a new cremator. The end date was based on the capacity of the three morgues – Kerikeri, Whangarei and Albany, being only 9 days of forecast and/or usual seasonal cadivers.


If we missed the completion date, it jeopardised the lease arrangements/agreements and also had financial penalty to the tenant.


We had to be cognisant of loved ones wanting cadivers being sent off in their local environment and to an area unknown to them, i.e. Kerikeri or Albany. This also put pressure on us as we had to meet these most sensitive issues.

Mokau Marae 

The Griffiths and Associates team were commissioned by the Ngatiwai Trust Board, after successful completion of their Bland Bay Campground Development, to assist in the preparation of Te Puni KĊkiri funding application documentation.


The funding application was successful and in 2014 the Mokau Marae Rebuild Committee was established and the Griffiths Team commenced the design, building consent and budgeting for the rebuild project. The project scope included the replacement of the Wharenui and Wharepaku which were tragically destroyed in a fire. It also included documents required to complete the Wharenui which had only been partially constructed.


With a design, building consent, contractor, budget and timeline in put place by ‘Griffiths’ the Mokau Marae Rebuild Committee again submitted funding applications to Foundation North and then later the Department of Internal Affairs for the cost of construction for stage 1 of the project.


Both of the above funding applications were successful in receiving the full six figure amount applied for and we are now currently constructing Stage 1 of the project which is the Wharepaku. Stage 2 will see the completion of the Wharekai and Stage 3 the Wharenui.


This is the second Marae project for Ngatiwai that we have assisted with staged funding applications, all of which have been successful, and we are proud of our involvement and cherish our ongoing relationship with the Iwi.
